I'm hoping Zeisan will be mentioned in this book even if it's just a simple mention of a little sister. Otherwise, it may impact the rpg's canon status.

Thought this episode was top tier. Starts off wild and just keeps going the editing was great at keeping a good pace while also having good character moments. Also the way he headbutts the lightsabers is so badass.

Taizo (whatever the spelling)... Interesting! Any real-world parallels to Emperor Taishō are merely coincidental, I guess? 😅 Just because the modern Japanese emperors seem to be very much of an influence for some Fire Lords, with Zoryu resembling Emperor Meiji very much and Taishō's son Hirohito was the ruler under whom Imperial Japan started its expansion... Very interesting, I think.

Whoo hoo! Sozin POV confirmed! And keeping balance by knocking Sozin off balance. Ohhh the foreshadowing. Hopefully we get tons of info on the Royal family dynamic. This Taiso stuff is a great start.

I can’t wait for this book! 😁 If we want to continue that trend of Z’s in the names of members in the royal family, I perhaps guess that the spelling of his father’s name is perhaps Taizo? I’ll call it. If it’s not that, maybe Tai So/Taiso?

Definitely excited about a Sozin POV chapter and it being a flashback to the anoucment of Roku being the Avatar. Defintlely allows him to be a little more fleshed out. Also Sozin father name drop is great news

Taizo (or Taizho) is my guess for his fathers name spelling..And "only true friend" implies Roku's only one who doesn't view him as a prince or others are Sozin's friends because he's the prince? This also reminds me of how much I dislike the reader of avatar novels audiobooks, she sounds like it's artificially made or the way she enunciates really gets on my nerves 😭

Man, what an episode. Joining the High Republic ranks of The Fallen Star, Patch of Deceit, and Path of Vengeance in terms of stories that pull out all the stops when it comes to tragedy and massacre. Though we all knew the Jedi on that mission were goners the minute the Sith showed up, I really thought Jecki and Yord (at least Jecki) had a little more time left in this show before they kicked it. And for it to be both! Like we didn't even save one's death for a future episode, we went all out here. And the fights, oh my God. I know lots of people were like "Hmm sure" when Amandla Stenberg said some fights were gonna be up there with the prequel fights, but she was not wrong! Insane choreography; Jecki and Sol were just incredible to watch. Jecki would have grown up to be such an amazing Jedi. 😢 Qimir's style was also super cool, especially with the cortosis helmet sometimes making it look like he was biting the lightsabers to extinguish them. The minute he lost the cloak and we could see his arms, I knew for sure it was Qimir. I was like, "Yep. Those are some Manny Jacinto arms right there." :D I'm pretty convinced that Sol knows Mae is posing as Osha here. If he could sense that Qimir as the Sith was familiar from meeting him once, I think he knows the difference between Osha and Mae. I'm just curious to see what reason he's playing along for. Does beg the question of how Mae plans to cover up her Force mark, though. RIP Pip. :( But it's about time someone told a droid that they loved them. I'm beginning to wonder if one of the women on Brendok are the Sith master/Qimir's master and that's how he knows so much about what happened that night and that the Sith were indeed involved in orchestrating some of what happened. Whether it was a known character like Aniseya or Korril or someone we didn't focus on too much, it seems like a good possibility. Definitely still of the belief that we're going to get some dark reveals about Osha. I think the theory that Sol maybe altered her memory somehow so she wouldn't remember is spot on. Whatever the answers are, I'm super excited. The mystery and reveals we've gotten so far have been super great and intriguing. Hoping that continues into the last three episodes.

The show still needs to get the big "what actually happened" reveals right in the next flashback and really commit to the Sith focus with the ending, but I have very much enjoyed the show so far.

Will you be doing this for the roku book too?

I really enjoyed this one - personally preferred this one to Storm Over Linsho as I found the characters a bit more interesting and the inclusion of a spirit was really nice. I agree, I wish we had an image for Tien! I think it was cool to separate the refugees and rebels into two separate factions fleeing the Fire Nation. Made for interesting questions about ethics and such.

So stoked for the library edition! Really love those big hardcovers. When it comes to the comics, I’m just like take my money, Darkhorse. I Am Katara was very sweet. I think I Am Aang is still the best one, but I liked this better than I Am Zuko.

Its too bad they aren't including Azula in the Spirit temple in the library edition, I'd love to see the creator commentary on that

I'm frustrated with the library edition, I bought the bundle thinking that it would be the alternative to it and there wouldn't actually be a library edition

I don't know if you knew this, but Drivethru RPG released the updated Quickstart, the short rules from the Starter Set, and it includes a new adventure called Storm Over Linsho.

I’m definitely getting the team avatar treasury library edition. But I don’t know why they did that other collection. I love the library edition hardcovers more than paperback

What Jura did to Himawari was more like a shot gun blast. He shot off the particles before they could form a biju bomb.

Mae’s complete 180 between scenes felt really weird to me but that shot of the sith floating into frame in the background gave me chills. This episode felt like it wanted me to think that dude was the sith so I honestly have no idea.

I really enjoyed the episode, but agree that the only weakness was how short it was. And all that additional time should have been dedicated to Bazil. 😊 Give me a spinoff of him just scurrying around finding things. I really liked all the little scenes we got between characters, especially Osha and Sol. I found it interesting that Osha sounded a little eager/hopeful when she asked if this meant she was rejoining the Jedi, almost like she’s been wanting/needing him to invite her back. And then I did so love the comedic transition of “I don’t have to wear the civilian outfit, right?” Cut to a grumpy Osha wearing the civilian outfit. 😂 That ending, though. I felt such genuine fear as the Sith Lord just quietly descended from above. Amazing stuff. So creepy and terrifying. It was a harrowing realization that yeah all these Jedi characters are going to have to die now or soon after. It’s also making me very worried about Vernestra’s fate. 😢 And yeah like except for maybe a few Jedi, the majority of them are not thinking about the Sith; it’s not on their radar. I think the Sith got one mention in Phase 1 with their connection to the Drengir and the Jedi were like “Yeah, those wars were a super long time ago.” I don’t believe they get any mention in Phase 2 despite the huge focus on all the different Force religions. And nothing so far in Phase 3. So yeah, the Sith are just a nonentity for most Jedi in this era. So excited for next week; it should be so epic.

Let me wipe my ass with everything SW that isnt the original trilogy.

I enjoyed the pisode, the best of the show so far, I still don't understand the discourse, sure episode 3 wasn't great but it was episode 3, and the discourse around master Ki Adi Mundi, he only had a birthdate in Legends and not Canon.

There are novel readers who think this episode is a butchered adaptation of the story, but I think not. I just take it as it is that maybe this anime and its episodes had to be of a certain length. Not to excuse things like E3, that take out the truly vital stuff that is the core of that story. I didn’t get to talk about E1’s characterization of Kirito’s flaw of being alone that he will overcome by the end of Aincrad. That was good stuff barring the absence of him feeling like he was committing an immoral action not helping Klein and his group. His moral self hatred is first shown here in the anime and is another problem that affects him. He really cares about doing the right thing. He could have Asuna join him, but he thinks she’s destined for an important role in the playerbase, so she shouldn’t be with him. But also, Kirito gives advice he doesn’t follow about being in a group. He knows he’s upping his chances of death but still chooses to be alone. Its ironic that Kirito feels like he’s bad for not giving beta info out there when he’s willing to tatter his rep by playing the bad guy. This episode really characterizes him well as a good kid who thinks he’s bad and isn’t willing to be with people. Now if only E3 did that first part. Also they should have adapted First Day.

I felt that this first episode could have been better. The character stuff is too sparse. As someone who went in knowing the premise due to a friend, it wasn't too engaging. Klein knowing how to use a sword skill but not using one initially doesn't make sense. I wish they went into specifically why Kirito didn't want to bring Furrinkazan with him. I like how the start of the episode showed the physical world as drab in color and how empty Kirito’s room is, as it’s in line with how much more interested he is with the virtual world. I imagine this was due to the director, as he is known to have a cinematic touch, like the scene transition from Sachi to Kirito with the window. I noticed the detail that Kirito has the blanket “girl face” that most other girls in the anime have. It’s a good way of showing that he is somewhat androgynous, like how Klein jokes in the sub that he looks like a cute girl, and what Kirito said in the novel about his own appearance. Good episode, but not too good unless you don’t know the premise.
